The Cargo Ship Dock is one of the earliest ways to earn Golden Keys. It is unlocked when reaching 20k population.
After reaching the required population you can choose to build it for 10k Simoleons. After building it you have to wait 1 day and 8 hours for it to build. This can be sped up for SimCash.
Once built, the cargo ship that arrives will stay for 18 hours and a new cargo ship will arrive 6 hours later. One can speed up the arrival of the cargo ship for 10 SimCash. The Cargo Ship Dock will ask for 3 slots of 1-4 random commercial items depending how difficult it is to produce the requested items. Like the Airport they will give a small amount of Simoleons but way less than what you could get for selling it at the Trade Depot or Sim Offers.
After filling in all the items, the ship will take off automatically and you'll get the stated reward. If one is not content with the items the cargo ship is asking for, one can tap on the "Request New Ship" button to make the current cargo ship leave and make a new ship arrive in 6 hours with different requested items.
June 2024 Changes[]
The Cargo Dock went through a few changes after the Mayor's Pass Season 42: Route 66 update.

- The Cargo Dock destination referred to as Special Deliveries is no longer available.
- Each destination rewards one type of item - Golden Keys, Storage Items, Area Items, Beach Items and Mountain Items.

Trivia[]
- Occasionally, a semi truck will drive in and out of the Cargo Ship Dock, presumably delivering the items the ship is requesting for from your city.
- The amount of SimCash needed to speed up the arrival of the next cargo ship will not change regardless of how much time is left before the next cargo ship arrives, unlike most other timers.
