Contest of Mayors HQ Screen.
The Contest of Mayors (often abbreviated COM or CoM) is an online feature where you compete against 99 other mayors randomly selected around your level to gain plumbob and Mayor’s Pass points to win prizes. Contest of Mayors is unlocked at Level 11. You open the Contest of Mayors screen by clicking the Contest of Mayors tower. You can gain plumbob and Mayor’s Pass points by completing assignments. Usually, these assignments can vary from 540-6000 points with varying levels of difficulty. The exception is during the 3rd week of the Mayor's Pass when Mayor’s Pass points are doubled. Each contest lasts for 7 days. After the 7 days you will be rewarded depending on what place you finished in your respective league.
Mayor's Pass[]
Participating in Contest of Mayors is how you advance in Mayor's Pass. You advance in Mayor's Pass by gaining Mayor’s Pass points. You can also purchase Mayor’s Pass points when it’s offered. See the Mayor's Pass page for more info.

Points[]
Picture of Plumbobs\Mayor’s Pass Points\Event Points
There are 3 types of points you can earn in the Contest of Mayors - Plumbobs, Mayor’s Pass Points and Event Points. Plumbob points are the green diamonds. You can earn them by completing assignments. The amount of plumbobs you earn each week determine where you place on the leaderboard among your opponents. They also determined whether you’re demoted to another league, promoted to the next league or stay in your current league. You can earn as many as you want as long as there is a task available. Mayor’s Pass Points are the purple circular points. You can also earn them by completing assignments. Earning Mayor’s Pass Points allow you to progress from tier to tier in the Mayor’s Pass. Unlike Plumbob points, there’s a weekly cap for Mayor’s Pass points. Your weekly cap is determined by what league you’re in. There is also a double point week for Mayor’s Pass points during the 3rd week to help you progress faster in the Mayor’s Pass. Event Points are the pink diamonds. Unlike the green plumbob points and the Mayor’s Pass points, event points only appear on CoM assignments when you have an unfinished event track active. The amount of event points you get per assignment can change from event track to event track. That is determine by the game maker.
Golden Tickets[]
Golden Tickets are used to activate Bonus Assignments. Bonus assignments cost between 10 to 40 Golden Tickets. They can be earned by leveling up your Contest Rank, Mayor's Pass, Limited Time Shops, Event Tracks or the Club Challenge.
Assignments[]
Assignments, or Tasks, are how you earn Plumbob and Mayor’s Pass Points. Assignments will range between 560-5,040 plumbob points and 895-2,905 Mayor’s Pass Points unless it’s a double point week, in which case, the Mayor’s Pass Points will be doubled. Everyone has the same amount of tasks regardless of what league you’re in. There are 3 types of tasks in the Contest of Mayors - Daily Assignments, Weekly (Milestone) Assignments and Bonus Assignments. Players have 24 hours to complete Daily Assignments, the entire length of the Contest of Mayors to complete Weekly (Milestone) Assignments, and Bonus tasks come with their own individual timer. With Bonus tasks, sometimes, after you run out of time, you'll be given the option to watch an ad in order to add more time to the task, otherwise, you fail the task. If you do not like a task you can start it and then cancel it to have a new task replace it after 20 minutes. This can be sped up by SimCash or watching an ad. This will use up 1 of your tasks. See this page for a complete list on all possible tasks.
Daily Assignments[]
Daily Assignments are the first set of assignments in the Contest of Mayors. They were introduced in the Chicago update in 2025. Players get the same 3 tasks every 24 hours - dispatch 5 trains, earn 10,000 simoleons and upgrade 2 residential buildings. You don’t have to activate daily assignments. Simply complete them and make sure to claim your points. If you do not claim them, you’ll lose them.
Weekly Milestone Assignments[]
Weekly Milestone Assignments, are the second set of assignments. They were originally introduced in the New York update in 2022. They replaced a set of assignments referred to as Streaks. Weekly Milestone Assignments do not require activation and are completed in 3 stages. After completing each stage, you can tap the “Claim” button to collect plumbob and Mayor’s Pass points. With each proceeding stage, the amount of plumbob and Mayor’s Pass points will increase. You can also choose to only complete the early stages of the assignment and then replace it with another for 5 SimCash without penalty. After the Chicago update, the number of available weekly assignments increased from 7 to 15 and the number of weekly assignments you can work on simultaneously increased from 3 to 10. You can only complete 10 of the 15 weekly assignments. If you get an assignment that you don’t like or you don’t want to complete every stage, you can use one of the 5 extra assignments to replace that assignment. Once you complete all 3 stages of a weekly milestone assignment, it will not be replaced with another assignment. Weekly milestone assignments are reset at the start of each Contest and you receive a random selection of new ones based on your progression in the game.
Bonus Assignments[]
Bonus Assignments, or Standard Assignments, are the third set of assignments. Every player receives 75 bonus assignments. They must be activated before completing the task. You can activate them by paying between 10 to 40 Golden Tickets. After the Chicago update, we can activate and complete up to 3 of these assignments simultaneously. Bonus assignments also have their own individual timer. You must complete the task before the timer runs out. Sometimes, after the timer runs out, you’ll be given the option to watch an ad to add more time to the task. Otherwise, you fail the assignment and cannot collect points for that assignment. See this page for a complete list of possible assignments.

Assignment Streaks were added to Contest of Mayors in update 1.38.0. You must complete specific tasks in a row to gain bonus plumbob points. The amount of streaks, bonus points, and number of tasks required differ between leagues. In Neighborhood League there are no streaks. See the table below for more information. After starting a streak you have 24 hours to complete it. If you cancel the task or run out of time you will lose that task and that streak. If you fail a streak you must wait 5 minutes before starting a new one. You will not be able to see the next task in a streak until you complete the task before it. Once completing all the tasks you can claim your bonus points and instantly have the option to start the next streak. Once all your streaks are used up you must wait until the next Contest Week to have more. This feature was replaced by Milestones.

Milestones[]
Milestone Assignments.
Milestone Assignments were introduced in the 1.43.1 update during the New York season in 2022. They replaced Assignment Streaks. Milestone Assignments can be played while a Contest or Mayor's Pass is active. Unlike regular assignments, Milestone Assignments are always active during an active Contest or Mayor's Pass and, therefore, does not need to be manually started. They are split into three stages that you complete in order. Completing a stage gives you the indicated reward and each stage is more challenging and rewarding than the one before it. Completing the final stage gives you a new Milestone Assignment if you have Assignments remaining, or you can re-roll ones you do not like. Re-rolling costs 5 SimCash and you lose any progress made in the current stage. Milestone Assignments are reset at the start of each Contest and you receive a random selection of new ones based on your progression in the game. See this page for a complete list on all possible tasks.
Golden Tickets[]
A Golden Ticket.
Golden Tickets are used to add tasks after you run out of your given ones. They can be earned by leveling up your Contest Rank, Mayor's Pass, or the Club Challenge. You can use a max of 15 after you run out of tasks. They are very useful in Megalopolis league to have a better chance of winning the Grand Prize.
