The Roads Button
Roads are how you make the layout of your city. All buildings except for Landscape require roads to function. (With the exception of buildings from Mayor's Pass Season 13: Australian Outback and the Winter Holiday buildings from 2022 Event Tracks.) If a Residential Building is not connected to a road, it will be abandoned immediately. If any other buildings are not connected to roads it will be disabled. You can access the roads menu from the roads button. In the roads menu there are 3 tabs.
Building Roads[]

Build Roads Tab
To build roads, click the Roads Button. You will be able to choose the type of road you would like to build. Once selected simply move your finger on any available area and click the check mark to build a road.
Upgrading Roads[]

Upgrade Roads Tab
Roads can be upgraded to support more traffic. Depending on the amount of strain on a road, it might become moderate or heavy. When a road is moderate the road will be highlighted in yellow. Sims will start complaining about traffic. If the road continues to be strained it might turn into a heavy amount of traffic. The road will be highlighted in red and Residential Buildings will be abandoned. You can prevent this by upgrading your roads. Based on your level you can only upgrade your roads to a specific level. Each level of upgrading will cost an increasing amount of Simoleons or NeoSimoleons for the last upgrade. Depending on the length of the road it will cost a different amount of Simoleons per tile.
Bulldozing Roads[]

Bulldoze Roads Tab
Roads can be bulldozed if you want to redesign your layout. To bulldoze a road, go to the Bulldoze Roads Tab and tap on the road you want to bulldoze. Hit the checkmark and the road will be bulldozed. If you bulldoze a road that has been upgraded, you will get a 50% refund for the most recent upgrade, not all the upgrades. Bulldozing a Cobblestone Road will also give a 50% refund.
Types of Roads[]
There are 10 different types of roads. When building a road you can choose between a Two-Lane Road - that you can further upgrade, a Cobblestone Street, a Gravel Road, a Sakura road or a Railroad Track. (Pictured below.)
