SimCity BuildIt is a spin-off game of the SimCity series for iOS, Android, and Amazon App Stores released by Electronic Arts. EA says it is the most played SimCity game ever with more than 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone. The game uses the freemium model. You can play through the game completely for free having access to all of its features but some buildings and other currencies/rewards can be purchased for real life money. It has it's own music and every building has it's own unique sound when tapped. The player will have 1 of many randomly selected names which they can change as many times as they would like. You can play the game without an internet connection for up to 3 days before being required to connect to the internet. While playing offline you cannot access many online features. The game has ads but they are only optional and give a reward if watched.

Currencies[]
The game uses 12 different currencies, They are:
- Simoleons, which are the main currency in the game. They can be earned numerous ways and are used to buy items and certain buildings. See the Simoleons page for more info.
- SimCash, which is the premium currency in the game. They can be earned numerous ways including In-App Purchases and are used to buy certain buildings, and other currencies excluding Platinum Keys. See the Simcash page for more info.
- Golden Keys, which is a special currency in the game. They can be earned numerous ways including Contest of Mayors and Disasters and are used to buy certain buildings and upgarde Disaster Cards. See the Golden Keys page for more info.
- Platinum Keys, which is a special currrency in the game. They can be earned numerous ways but the most efficient is through Contest of Mayors and Mayor's Pass. They are the rarest of all currencies and cannot be bought with Simcash. They are used to buy certain buildings and upgrade Disaster Cards.
- NeoSimoleons, which is a special currency in the game. They can be earned through OMEGA Zones and selling OMEGA items to advisors. They are used to purchase certain buildings and items in the Neomall.
- War Simoleons, which is a special currency in the game. They are used exclusively for Wars. They can be earned by particpating in Club Wars and the Vu Pass. They are used to purchase War Items and Boosters from the War Store.
- Regional Simoleons, which is a special currency in the game. There are 5 different types, 1 for each region. They can be earned by the Export HQ and selling regional items to regional advisors. They are used to buy certain buildings including hot spots.
- Design Simoleons, which is a special currency in the game. They are used exclusively in City Design Challenges to buy services and upgrade roads in a Design Challenge region.
- Rail Simoleons, which are used for buying items from the Railway Shop.
The game starts with 25,000 simoleons and 50 SimCash.
Items[]
There are 103 different regular items in the game. Items are used to advance in the game. Items can be made by either industrial buildings or commercial buildings. They can be sold in the Trade Depot, upgrade Residential Buildings, and do various shipments and deliveries. There are also 24 special items that are not used to upgrade zones or do shipments but instead for things like expanding your city area or storage and launching disasters. There are also 12 War Items that are used to launch Disaster Cards and there are 10 OMEGA Items which are used to upgrade OMEGA Zones.
Buildings[]
There are many types of buildings in SimCity BuildIt. They are Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Service, Non-City, and Specializations.
Residential Buildings[]
Residential Buildings are buildings in which Sims live. They are used to increase your population. Residential Buildings must be covered by services and connected to a road or they will be abandoned. There are 14 types of different Residential Buildings. See the Residential Buildings page for more info.
Industrial Buildings[]
Industrial Buildings are buildings in which you produce raw items. These items can be used for many things within the game or they can produce commercial items. There are 5 regular industrial buildings and 5 regional industrial buildings. They can be stored and transported across regions.
Commercial Buildings[]
Commercial Buildings are buildings in which you produce commercial items. These items are made from raw items and can be used for many things within the game. There are 17 different commercial buildings. They can be stored and transported across regions.
Non-City Buildings[]
Non-City buildings are buildings that are outside your city limits. They are unlocked at different requirements and each serve a purpose to help your city grow.
- Trade Depot - Used to sell items for Simoleons.
- Global Trade HQ - Used to purchase items put on sale by other players for Simoleons.
- Monster Trouble - Used to launch attacks on the Monster to advance in Vu Pass.
- Cargo Ship Dock - Used to complete Cargo shipments for Golden Keys.
- Vu Tower - Used to launch disasters on your city to earn Golden Keys.
- Airport - Used to do Airplane Shipments to get special items for Paris, London, and Tokyo zones.
- Contest Tower - Used to access Contest of Mayors.
- Mayor's Club House - Used to access Clubs.
- Vu's Fortress - Used to access Club Wars.
- War Deliveries - Used to complete shipments in exchange for War Items.
- Export HQ - There is 1 in each region, they are used to complete shipments to earn regional simoleons.
- NeoMall - Used to purchase special items and speed up tokens for NeoSimoleons.
- Advertisement board, outside the city with real advertisements.
Services[]
There are 11 services in SimCity BuildIt. Services are required for Sims not to abandon their homes. 5 services are a capacity and demand service, 5 are an area coverage service and 2 are a special service. The special services are government and regional. These services are special because government buildings are useful buildings for your city and do not provide anything for Sims and is only avaliable in the Capital City. Regional is only avaliable in regions and each region has different buildings. Regional is an area coverage service.
Specializations[]
There are 10 specializations in SimCity BuildIt. Specialization buildings provide population boosts for Sims. The majority of buildings in the game are specialization buildings.
Regions[]
There are 6 regions in SimCity BuildIt including the Capital City. Each region has its own unique theme, city area, residential zone, service, regional simoleon, hot spots, items, and buildings. See the regions page for more info.
Contest of Mayors[]
Contest of Mayors is one of the biggest features in SimCity BuildIt. In Contest of Mayors you can do tasks to gain plumbob points. The more of these points you have the higher you go on a leaderboard of 100 mayors around your level. Depending on you position in the leaderboard you can get promoted or demoted to a different league. There are 6 different leagues each with better rewards than the last. You can also use plumbob points to advance in Mayor's Pass which will allow you to unlock exclusive buildings every season. See the Contest of Mayors page for more info.
Club Wars[]
Club Wars is another big feature in SimCity BuildIt. In Club Wars you and your club members fight another club and can launch attacks on opponenet player's cities to score war points. At the end of the war the club with the most war points wins. See the Club Wars page for more info.
City Design Challenges[]
City Design Challenges are the newest feature to SimCity BuildIt. In City Design Challenges you must build a city following the given theme and submit it to get blueprints. Then players will vote on your design and you can vote on other player's designs. After voting you will be given blueprints depending on how many stars your design got. The blueprints are used to progress through the rewards track to earn exclusive buildings. See the City Design Challenges page for more info.
